Currently, he is serving as Managing Director & CEO of BMB Islamic Advisory, and Chairman of Edbiz Consulting. He sits on a number of Shari’a Supervisory Boards, including Allianz Global Investors (Luxemburg), Hong Leong Islamic Bank (Malaysia), Hong Leong Tokio Takaful Marine (Malaysia) and Shari’a UMEX (UK). He is widely respected in academia and is associated with a number of universities and institutions of higher learning in Islamic finance. He is also founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Global Islamic Finance Report (GIFR) , an annual publication that serves as a reference book for global practices in Islamic banking & finance. Additionally, his Chancellor Guide to Legal and Shari’a Aspects of Islamic Finance (co-edited with Umar Moghul) is one of the most popular books on structuring of Islamic financial products.
