Tun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi - Ex Prime Minister, Malaysia
The keynote speaker at OIEF, Tun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi was the Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2003 to 2009. He was a strong supporter of anti corruption moves in the country and stressed on innovation and creativity. He supported Islam Hadhari, which maintains that Islam and economic and technological development are not incompatible.Abdullah Badawi was heavily involved in foreign policy making.
He was the chairman of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference since the start of his premiership in 2003. As of 2005, he was the chairman of the ASEAN. He also served as chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement from October 2003 until September 2006.

Mr Yaseen Anwar is the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. As a senior global banker, Mr. Anwar brought 33 years of international banking experience to SBP. During this period, he worked at major international financial centers that included New York, London and Paris with JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch. As a Non-Executive Director on the Board of United National Bank Ltd. (U.K.) for six years (2000-2006), he developed strong expertise in the U.K. financial services regulatory framework on corporate governance as well as senior level ties with the U.K. Financial Services Authority and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Saleem Ullah Khan - Director, Islamic Banking Dept, State Bank of Pakistan
Saleemullah has more than 15 years of central banking experience, primarily in the areas of banking supervision and development finance. Starting his career at SBP as a Bank examiner in 1995, he served in different positions in the banking examination and supervision departments. He served as Head, Microfinance Division (MFD) SBP from 2001 to 2005. As Head, MFD, he pioneered the development of regulatory and supervisory frameworks for Microfinance banks in Pakistan, which is considered as one of the most progressive in the world. He also served as Head, Strategic Management, SBP, for about six months before assuming the charge of Director, Agriculture Credit Department in 2006.

Dr Khan possesses multifaceted expertise and experience across a wide range of activities including Shari’ah consultancy, Shari’ah-based product development and structuring, Shari’ah review of legal documents, Shari’ah coordination, and Islamic finance instruction and training. Previously, Dr Khan worked in the field of Shari’ah advisory in London, UK. Dr Khan obtained a Doctorate in Economics from Oxford University, an MPhil in Development Studies from Cambridge University and a BSc (Hons) in Economics from University College London. He is a strong advocate of the ‘Substance and Form’ viewpoint with regard to Islamic finance.
Sohail Jaffer - Partner & Head, Intl. Business Development (Bancassurance & Investment Services), FWU Group
Sohail Jaffer is a Partner and Head of International Business Development for “white label” Bancassurance and investment services within the FWU Group, an international financial services group focusing on innovative and customised product design in the field of unit-linked investments and family takaful investment-linked plans for international markets. Mr. Jaffer has successfully originated, negotiated and won several major bancassurance deals in the GCC region, Pakistan and Malaysia. Mr. Jaffer is a member of the Asset Management Advisory Committee, the Middle East Working Group and the Hedge Fund Committee of ALFI. He is also a member of LFF Islamic Finance Working Group.
Stanley T. Young - SVP, Worldwide Sales, Path Solutions
With over 30 years of experience working for the world’s largest software companies across the globe, Stanley joins Path Solutions from a senior partner management role at SAP in Germany after working with them in two different countries. Prior to joining SAP, he worked as a solutions sales director and a regional consulting director with Oracle in Australia and Singapore. He has also worked for mainframe companies and previously worked as a sales executive in Saudi Arabia for several years.
Stuart Crocker - Head, Private Banking & Wealth Management, ADIB
Stuart Crocker recently joined ADIB, in May of this year, to head the Private Banking and Wealth Management operations. He has a wealth of experience and has been tasked by the Board of Directors to build the strongest, most respected Islamic private bank in the region. Stuart has over 25 years of experience in the financial services and banking industry, playing leadership roles in several private banks in the Middle East and Europe. For the four years prior to joining ADIB, Stuart was Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Private Bank in the UAE and Oman. From 2005 to 2007, he was with HSBC Private Bank in Geneva, Switzerland as a Member of General Management heading client segmentation.
Tariq Al Rifai - Director, Islamic Market Indexes, Dow Jones Indexes
Tariq Al-Rifai is Director of Islamic Market Indexes for Dow Jones Indexes. In this role, he works closely with index support and development as well as sales, marketing and public relations to drive the Dow Jones Islamic Market Indexes business. Mr. Al-Rifai also promotes and represents Dow Jones Indexes as a speaker and educator at industry conferences and events, and maintains relationships with financial institutions globally. Mr. Al-Rifai holds an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in international finance from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. A native of Kuwait, he is currently based in Dubai in order to be close to the center of Islamic finance.
